Our factory extension on the Brown Brothers site in Kirkconnel is starting to take shape. The extension will be just under 5000m2 on completion and provide an increase of 30% in useable factory floor space for our Browns site. The work will be carried out in phases over the next 12 months and be fully operational by April 2023.
The purpose of the extension is to increase efficiencies and productivity and it will be utilised mostly for low-risk processing. The new extension will also provide us with an increased butchery capacity (particularly for our Scottish pork processing) and much improved goods in handling with a larger 800 pallet cold store new blast freezer system and defrosting area. Additionally, the extension will offer us improved staff changing facilities, increased hygiene areas, and an increased cooking capacity.
